Sleep

When humanity paused for a moment before dawn

He heard the ocean whisper

He heard the silence of the land

He heard the music of solitude

He danced amidst the clouds all alone

And drifted to sleep as the sun kissed the sky

And strode proudly into the morn.

Searching in a crowd

I listened to them talk, I answered a thousand smiles

Yet with every gust of wind that nudged me,

I looked around, searching in a crowd,

Knowing you are nowhere nearby.


I listened to every laugh, nodding once in awhile

Yet with every whisper that I heard,

I turned to hear that sound,

That whisper that always made me smile.
